What is AKK?
Akkermansia muciniphila
(commonly abbreviated as AKK) is widely regarded as one of the most promising next-generation probiotics. In 2004, it was first isolated from human feces by Dutch researchers Muriel Derrian and Willem de Vos. AKK are residents of the human gut microbiota, growing by utilizing gastrointestinal mucins as their sole carbon and nitrogen sources, and accounting for about 1-5% of the human microbiota. The abundance of AKK in the gut is related to the host's age, diet, and health status. Numerous studies have shown that the lack or decreased abundance of this probiotics was linked with multiple diseases (such as obesity, diabetes, liver steatosis, inflammation and response to cancer immunotherapies). AKK have demonstrated significant effects in regulating the intestinal barrier, weight management, blood sugar reduction, and anti-aging Furthermore, inactivated AKK has biological effects similar to,or even better than live AKK.
What is AM06 TM?
In 2023, the technical team published a latest research finding in Microbiology Spectrum. A systematic safety evaluation, including comprehensive assessments of general characteristics, genetic characteristics, tolerance, toxicity, etc., was carried out on 31 Akkermansia muciniphila isolates from healthy individuals (30 isolates from feces and 1 isolate from breast milk). It was discovered that the AM06 strain isolated from breast milk has advantages such as low toxicity, high genetic stability, and high tolerance to pH and bile salts, making it a candidate probiotic.
