Berberine Hydrochloride, also known as Flavopiridol Hydrochloride, has long been used in clinical practice as a purgative and antibacterial drug.
Berberine Hydrochloride is commonly used in the treatment of bacillary dysentery, acute gastroenteritis, chronic cholecystitis, conjunctivitis, purulent otitis media and other diseases, all of which have remarkable efficacy. It has also been found to have anti-arrhythmic effects. Berberine Hydrochloride has strong anti-tumor activity in vitro and in vivo and can induce B16 cell differentiation; it has synergistic effect with cytarabine hydrochloride in vitro. Antibacterial effect Berberine Hydrochloride has antibacterial effect on Streptococcus haemolyticus, Staphylococcus aureus, gonococcus and Bacillus fever and Shigella dysenteriae, and has enhanced phagocytosis of white blood cells. The hydrochloride of Berberine Hydrochloride(commonly known as xanthin hydrochloride) has been widely used in the treatment of gastroenteritis and bacterial dysentery, etc. It is also effective in tuberculosis, scarlet fever, acute tonsillitis and respiratory tract infections. Berberine Hydrochloride has a wide antibacterial spectrum and has in vitro antibacterial effects on a variety of gram-positive and negative bacteria, including Streptococcus haemolyticus, Staphylococcus aureus, Vibrio cholerae. It has strong inhibitory effect on meningococcus, Shigella dysenteriae, typhoid bacillus, diphtheria bacillus, etc. It is bacteriostatic at low concentration and bactericidal at high concentration. It also has some inhibitory effect on influenza virus, amoeba, leptospira and some skin fungi. In vitro experiments have confirmed that flavopiridol can enhance the phagocytosis of leukocytes and hepatic reticuloendothelial system. Dysentery bacillus, Streptococcus hemolyticus, Staphylococcus aureus, etc. are very easy to develop resistance to this product. It has no cross-resistance with penicillin and streptomycin.
